What will my salary be worth in the future?

Project your salary forward with your own expected raises, then see what it would be worth in today's money after inflation.

Your numbers

Use any pay period (e.g. gross annual). Raises and years are your own assumptions.

Prefilled with this country's actual inflation in 2025. You can change it.

Your result

Fill in all fields to see your result — it updates automatically.

Your raises and future inflation are assumptions, not guarantees. Taxes and career changes are not modelled.

How it works

You enter your current salary, an assumed annual growth rate, and an assumed annual inflation rate (pre-filled from live CPI data for your country, editable). The tool compounds your salary forward at the growth rate, then deflates that result by inflation to show what it's really worth in today's purchasing power.

Worked example

A $60,000 salary growing at 4% annually, with 3% assumed inflation, over 10 years: nominal future salary ≈ $88,814. Adjusted for inflation, that's worth ≈ $66,082 in today's money — a real (inflation-adjusted) growth rate of just under 1% per year, even though the nominal raise looks like 48% over the decade.

FAQ

Where does the pre-filled inflation number come from?

+

Your country's most recent year-over-year CPI change — a reasonable starting assumption, but you can change it to model your own scenario.

Why is the "real" growth so much smaller than the nominal number?

+

Compounding inflation eats into compounding salary growth every year — the gap between the two widens the further out you project.

Is this a prediction?

+

No — it's a calculation based on assumptions you enter. Neither your actual raises nor future inflation are known in advance; treat the growth and inflation rates as scenarios, not forecasts.

Limitations

Assumes a constant annual growth rate, which real careers rarely follow exactly (raises tend to be lumpy — a promotion here, a flat year there). Inflation is also unlikely to stay perfectly constant over a long horizon.
